# Start Base

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

## Download a Supported Wallet

* Choose from wallets like MetaMask, Rabby Wallet, or Coinbase Wallet that support the Base blockchain.
* Follow the wallet’s setup instructions to create a new wallet
  {% endstep %}

{% step %}

## Save Your Private Key

* During the setup process, you’ll be given a private key or recovery phrase. Save this securely; it’s the only way to recover your wallet if you lose access.
  {% endstep %}

{% step %}

## Connect to Base Network

* Ensure your wallet is configured to connect to the **Base blockchain**. You may need to add Base as a custom network using the network settings in your wallet.
  {% endstep %}
  {% endstepper %}

## Importing an Existing Wallet

* If you already have an EVM wallet, you can seamlessly add the Base chain to your wallet. Just select the chain, find Base, and add it.
